Disregarding the inconveniences involved with losing power for such a long period, the economic ramifications will not be known for a long time. It will most likely be millions in sales and man-hours lost. 

This news is more evidence of the importance of having a reliable power system. You should take every precaution to make sure your power source is at full capacity and maintained.
