Real-Time Battery Electrolyte Level Monitoring

Non-invasive system for Flooded Batteries

Eagle Eye Power Solutions is introducing the ELM-Series Electrolyte Level Monitoring System that monitors the electrolyte level and temperature of individual flooded batteries The ELM-Series is non-invasive and is applicable to any flooded battery regardless of voltage and amp-hour. Save time and money by continuously monitoring electrolyte levels and eliminating the need for periodic testing and battery maintenance!

How does the ELM-Series Work?  

The ELM-Series Battery Electrolyte Level Monitor will work for any flooded battery system. Each model will include (1) ELM-Monitor and as many sensors required to connect to each jar / cell. (ex: A 60 Cell system will have 60 Sensors and 1 Monitor). Utilizing low-cost, easy-to-install sensors, the system will alarm on low electrolyte level or higher than normal temperature. The sensors are simply and securely attached to each individual jar.

In the condition of a low electrolyte or temperature alarm, the sensors communicate to the system monitor and the system monitor activates a changeover relay output while simultaneously activating the appropriate alarm LED lights. The LED light will indicate either 'low electrolyte level' or 'jar over-temperature'. In the event that 4 or more jars fall to an alarm level, the monitor will trigger a group alarm in addition to the single jar alarm.

The IBEX-Ultra is the premier kit in the IBEX-Series, capable of storing 4,800 measurement results and 80 alarm settings. The IBEX-Ultra includes Exmons Ultra Battery Management Software to trend data & create reports. In addition to testing Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and Temperature the IBEX-Ultra tests DC Current & Ripple Current.

The IBEX-Pro is similar to the IBEX-Ultra but it is commonly used for testing smaller amounts of battery systems. The IBEX-Pro also includes Exmons Ultra Battery Management Software and has a memory of 600 measurement results and can test Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and (optional) temperature.

The IBEX-EX is the most economic portable battery tester in the IBEX-Series. The IBEX-EX tests Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and (optional) temperature, and includes Serial Comm which is a program for transferring results from the IBEX to Microsoft Excel for basic reporting.

SMART Battery Load Banks

Specifically designed for battery discharge load testing, the SLB-Series monitors the system during discharge and can also monitor the voltage of each cell wirelessly. Evaluate the health of each battery cell and replace only the cells that require replacement. Included management software allows the user to create reports, trend system and cell health, create discharging graphs and more!

Standard DC Voltages (nominal): 12, 24, 36, 48, 80, 125, 240, 380 & 480Vdc. Current Ranges: 0 - 600 Amp. Load Banks can be parallel connected for a larger discharge range.

The LB-Series DC Load Banks are compact, portable resistive load banks that offer a simplistic solution to DC load testing. Each DC Load Bank is easy-to-use with a digital LCD display operator control panel, with individual fan, load step, and master switches.

With over 35+ standard models each DC Load Bank has the option to choose either 1 Amp or 5 Amp load step resolution. Custom models and other resolutions are available upon request.

If the end of October is any indication, it could be an interesting winter for the Northeast. Halloween is the time of year when kids, dressed as witches, vampires, and other new identities, go door-to-door and ask for sugary treats. Pumpkins populate most porches, and couples scan their television guides to find the scariest movies to share into the night. It is the time of the year right before the chaos of the holiday season and the interesting weather that accompanies it. However, during this Halloween in the Northeast, the day took on a completely new identity.

A surprise snowstorm hit the Northeast and caused trouble throughout the region. The effects of the snowstorm are still being felt by some into the second week of November. The snowstorm hit the Northeast on October 29^th dumping up to a foot of snow in some areas. The heavy snow caused terrible road conditions, and combined with the strong winds, downed many power lines and trees. More than a million people and businesses lost power during the storm. Tens of thousands of people and businesses are still without power ten days later. Disregarding the inconveniences involved with losing power for such a long period, the economic ramifications will not be known for a long time. It will most likely be millions in sales and man-hours lost. 

This news is more evidence of the importance of having a reliable power system. You should take every precaution to make sure your power source is at full capacity and maintained. Battery monitoring systems, density meters, and battery testing equipment are all good investments if you want to feel comfortable the next time you check out your forecast.
